Cannabis kills Covid

In a recently released study, researchers found that cannabis compounds CBGA and CBDA were able to potentially combat SARS-CoV-2, the virus causing the pandemic which has lasted for more than two years now.

I’m going to keep this as objective as possible, and at Legalize Happiness, we don’t believe in justifying medical use as a means for legalization or decriminalization. Please don’t take anything here as a statement of fact about whether anything will reduce your risk for being affected by covid. But we do have some thoughts.

Throughout the pandemic, there has been a war on information. The struggle to determine what is true and what is not. There are tools available including masks, vaccines, ivermectin, hydroxychloroquine and more. But there is a divide on which of those are safe and which are effective. I’m sure most people reading this will see two of those tools as pleasant and cringe at the other two.

While some of these tools have been argued to be unsafe and ineffective, many proponents will argue that even if the tool is only 10% effective, as long as it’s “safe enough”, there is no harm in reducing your chances of harm from the virus by that 10%. It also makes sense that if you have five tools which can each reduce your likelihood by 10%, then combining them would collectively give you an even higher degree of protection than only one.

With so much information, misinformation and skewed and biased statistics going around, what a person believes is right for them can largely come down to who they trust as their source of information.

Belief.

When the united States was founded with the explicit right to enjoy freedom of religion, they understood that they were protecting the freedom of thought and belief. It doesn’t matter if these tools are 100% effective of 0% effective. If they aren’t harmful, then there is no harm in using them. And which tools people choose will be based on their belief.

Enter cannabis…

CBD and CBG are non-psychoactive compounds found in cannabis. They are safe. There has never been a case of a person overdosing on any part of this plant, and the only side effects might be drowsiness or a case of the munchies. Not everyone believes that. This new study shows that it may help fight the virus. Further studies might give more evidence. Not everyone will believe it. But for those who do believe this will help protect them or cure them, and who believe that it will cause no harm, that is their absolute right to consume this plant to try.

Even if a person does not choose the best tools, the best thing for them is to be able to use the tools they believe in. This is a fundamental human right. A huge factor in the furious divide between those who choose different tools, is that people are being told to ignore their own beliefs and act on the beliefs of others. This is contrary to the principles of freedom of religion, freedom of thought and freedom to pursue happiness.
